Guest Posting

After reading our content for years, you as a reader might have many thoughts on the way public transport in Singapore can be better run, or how our city in the garden can be better designed. Perhaps you’ve enjoyed our work and want to add to the conversation beyond discussions on our Discord server, or the limited potential of the default comments section. But you feel that you might not be able to commit as a full-time STC author.

Fret not, for STC has a “guest post” function that enables anyone, including you to publish content on our page, without being part of the Team!

It’s a simple process really — just send us a draft of your post through email or adding us to a shared Google Docs document, and we will review to determine final publication.

  • Accepted file formats: .doc, .docx, .pdf
  • Do include the following at the beginning of your document:
    • Your name. (Or however you wish to be referred to when the post is published)
    • Some form of contact so we may reach you during the review process
      • Accepted platforms: Discord, Telegram, Instagram, Twitter
    • Intended post title
  • Do note that this draft should contain the entirety of your post, including all media. Notes for the editors formatting your post for publication should be left in the form of comments left beside the document, rather than in the text itself.

We will keep in touch with you throughout the entire review and publication process. Our authors may make changes to your post as they deem fit, although we will strive to keep your original meaning to the best of our ability possible. Do note however that final decisions regarding published guest post content lie with the STC Team, and we may reject guest post submissions at our discretion.

Guest Post guidelines:
  • Do remember: STC is a blog speaking for the people.
  • While there is no limit on permissible topics covered in guest posting, do try to keep them relevant to urban transportation and planning issues, and preferably if they are of relevance to Singapore as well.
  • Excessive image spam is discouraged due to limited storage available, although this will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
  • Please keep content coherent for readers to be able to easily follow. Unclear prose makes communication of ideas difficult, and hinders the conversation.
  • Content promoting hatred for any racial, religious, social-economic or other group will be removed or rejected from submissions. This rule does not apply to corporations and governing organisations, where justified. For instance, xenophobic content will be rejected, but content bashing LTA for their inadequacy in policy will be allowed.
  • Political topics are not disallowed in submissions, however limit their scope (this is a blog about transport and urban planning predominantly, remember). However, politically offensive material will be rejected at the Team’s discretion.
